D. M. Consunji, Inc. – First Balfour Joint Venture (DMFB-JV) executives headed by Jorge Consunji – President and COO of D. M. Consunji, Inc., Edilberto Palisoc – EVP and General Manager of Construction of DMCI, Douglas Cunanan – VP and Project Director of DMFB-JV,  Dr. Fiorello Estuar – Vice Chairman and CEO of First Balfour,  together with LRTA Administrator Melquaides Robles witnessed and inspected the initial drillings for soil testing at a portion of Edsa near the Monumento Circle in Caloocan City, where the concrete pillars of the elevated aqueduct of the 5.4 kilometer elevated railway will be built.  This signifies the commencement of construction of the LRT 1 North Extension project. 

DMCI – First Balfour Joint Venture is the winning bidder of the P2.8 billion contract Package A1 & A2, and P830 million Package B which includes, civil and railway works connecting the LRT Line 1 and the MRT at the Monumento Station in Caloocan and the North Avenue Station in Quezon City through an entirely elevated railway.  The project also features the design and construction of three stations at the Balintawak interchange, Roosevelt Avenue, and North Avenue.  Target of completion of the LRT 1 North Extension is May 2010.
