CITY OF MALOLOS, Bulacan July 11 (PIA) -– Construction of the P543 million by-pass road project of the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has started at Plaridel town to solve problems in traffic overload and delay in goods transport.
The 7.53-kilometer road construction under the contract package 2 segment of DPWH is currently being built together by M. Pancho Construction Inc., J.E. Manalo & Co., Inc., and D.M. Consunji Inc.
The by-pass road will traverse Brgy. Bulihan, Plaridel going to Bustos town.
The completion of the by-pass road will improve the flow of traffic and transport of farm produce from Metro Manila and Bulacan going to the Cagayan Valley and vice-versa.
According to DPWH Undersecretary Rafael C. Yabut, the said multi-million project will be built under a loan agreement between the Philippines and the Japan International Cooperation Agency, through the DPWH-Philippine Japan Highway Loan-Project Management Office and Katahira & Engineeers International.
The road will be built 30 millimeters thick, and seven meters wide with 2.50-meter wide shoulders on each side.
Meanwhile, DWPH Secretary Rogelio L. Singson said the agency will expedite the construction to accomplish the project before the loan closing period of July 2012.
Under Singson’s directive, discussions are underway between DPWH Bulacan First District Engineering Office and land owners to resolve problems on land acquisition. (WLB/JMG-PIA 3)
